Best all around gun

Unread postby Peeps22 » Tue Oct 13, 2015 10:32 pm

Im wanting to get into coyote hunting as ive been getting quite a few on camera along the fencelines by my house. Im looking to buy a rifle most likely or maybe even a shotgun dedicated to just coyote and deer hunting. If you could buy 1 gun for these things, what would you buy?

An AR platform rifle, so many options and upgrades as far as accessories and calibers.

My yote gun is an AR. I also have 17HMR, .243, and .270 that have all killed yotes even killed a couple with my Mossberg 835, but when I go with the purpose of killing yotes the AR is what I grab.

For deer and yotes I'd go .308 win in a bolt action lots of options for it, just a great miltary round thats has endless info for it. But I'm not particularly worried about a hole. For just yotes a AR all the way along with a good old shotgun for more suburban areas. Guys smoke yotes 60 yards all day with a good load.

Savage .243 won't break the bank. The .243 wouldn't be my first choice for deer but for a dual role it would get the nod. Just pick a good clean shot with the deer (good behind the shoulder and broadside) and hopefully you'll have a blood trail. If you don't care about the yote pelt, 7mm-08 or .308 hands down.
