I use a IcoTecGC 350, also carry a couple mouth calls. A Dan Thompson Weens repcula and A really old Olt call I bought back in the 1960's. I also carry a howler to use mostly when hunting alone and I want several sounds.

Mostly I use the IcoTec because thewre are so many sounds you can get and put on SD cards to meet your sound needs.

I'm gonna look into hose, thanks! I'm more interested in bears than deer though and intend to use it for calling Bruins up here in Ontario. I'm no expert but I assume that the bear would tear apart a decoy attractor if/when it came in :o . Any advice on a good setup or tips for calling bears?

I started out with a tape deck and loud speaker lol. Called in a few. Then went to a MP3 player and loudspeaker but never had any luck. Bought a primos alpha dog and haven’t called one in with it. Now I use hand calls only. My go to is a psycho tweety

You're right, they do bait the Bears up here. The thing is a friend of mine got me interested in hunting this past year and then got struck out both times on his 2 separate hunting trips which took place at their outfitter friends place. He said the reason was we had a great crop of blueberries and that the Bears don't bother with baits when there's an abundance of natural food and that all The other guys up there didn't shoot any either for this reason. It really stuck with me that without the bait barrel he was helpless. He was an experienced hunter in prime bear country for almost 2 weeks and didn't even know where to even start

So I've been doing research am more interested in what foods these bears are eating during the different months and things like that. I guess I'm trying to come up with a style which is slowly taking shape between using an e caller, finding these thick, dark, and cool swamps way out in the bush, and knowing what the Bears are probably gonna be eating when.

Edit: and playing the wind. Ive found tons of milkweed already by the way

I hunted spring bear once in Ont. Ca. Up hiway 129 from Thesolon back when part of it was still gravel and before the new bridge was put in at Cheaplu.
Our out fitter was south of 5 mile lake port. park.

No blue berries at that time but the suckers were running, I think mid may. 3 of us brought 2 home. I was useing my bow and never saw a bear.

Nice! I think that's pretty close to the boreal forest up there https://d2khazk8e83rdv.cloudfront.net/m ... gionse.png

I was reading an article about bears in the boreal and it mentioned they eat snowshoe hare so I want to get a snowshoe hare call to try up there.

Foxpro has snowshoe hare calls, but it says you can download other sounds to th icotec with an sd card Im assuming a person can just find a snowshoe hare or any other call online and use it. Looks like a good machine Al and easy on the wallet too...
