42 walleye

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:33 am

Saginaw bay is on fire right now... anyone with a tub that floats is into fish. I've gotten crazy reports of success in what I call the "nursery" area of the inner Bay, so I figured I'd give it a try. These fish are typically just legal in size or they are throwbacks. I was ready for a change, as I've done pretty well on the walleyes over 20" this spring and the fishing has been fast... but I had to try the area that was generating so much excitement.

You know the day is going to be good when you put your first line in the water and a walleye smacks your spinner before you can put the second line out... I took a two-person limit of the best eating size walleye there is in just under two (2) hours. Not ready to leave yet, I ended up netting 42 walleyes in all. Putting a third line in the water never made any sense today, as soon as two (2) were in, it was time to reel up a walleye... I'm grinning, what fun. :D

Ten (10) in the box, 32 thrown back. Most of the throw-backs were sublegal of the Michigan "15" minimum.

You hammered them.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
