Beast Walleye Report?
How are fellow Beasts doing with the walleye fishing this summer? I've been smoking them all summer on Saginaw Bay. I've also been brought back to earth a time or two on inland lakes... I'm always catching eyes but the inland game with the dog days arriving have made it a lot tougher.

Nice ones. You're always out nailing em.
Havent fished walleye as much as I'd like this year. I'm going to try to get out trolling leadcore rapalas/hornets in the dog days of August. Caught some very nice largemouths today...

Re: Beast Walleye Report?
Those are some dandies, I've been doing pretty good up in NW Minnesota. Lots of eaters in the small lakes around here, only a few hours away from some of the best walleye lakes in the world! It's been a good summer, keep after them!
This one was right at 25" don't mind me holing it out a little! Haha hopefully I'll reach that 30"mark one day.

Re: Beast Walleye Report?
Just got off Winnebago. It's a dead sea out there right now. Caught nothing but Sheepshead.
Been a tough year for me on Bago. Caught a bunch of walleye trolling earlier in May/June but having a hard time getting any size. Seems I can catch the sub 15" fish easily but like to keep 15"-20" for eaters. Last few years I had no problems.

Re: Beast Walleye Report?
My walleye fishing has been spotty no consistent summer action. I do have one consistent action lake where I live but they bumped up the size limit to one fish 28 inches this year so many undersized are caught, so it is bitter sweet. No potential now for eaters but maybe trophies down the road.

Re: Beast Walleye Report?
So check this out. My fishing partner caught one over 15lbs. Caught in 18 inches of water on the Mississippi during the pre-spawn. He figures he landed his Moxy right on her head. She had eggs spilling out and was totally engorged. Amazing fish. He released her after measurements. He could have kept it but let her go. He hasn't been able to find a walleye form that looks like its dimensions but he got a bunch of photos and the memory...

Our ice took a hit here with the warm weather... guys are going out in some risky areas around home. Bring on the cold weather!

Re: Beast Walleye Report?
Did some wading on a small river in central wisconsin about 2 weeks ago before the torrential rains. Flow increased from about 200cfs when we were there to over 7000cfs by the end of the week. Nothing beats a cooler of worms and water, a box of jigs, a rod, and swim trunks for walleyes. Couple holes we fished couldn't be more than 5-6' deep and were the size of a kitchen table. Best part is that nobody fishes it since an article came out saying the river can't sustain a reproducing population of walleyes. Have the pictures proving that article wrong for over 30 years.
Lost one about 20", and our best spot didn't have any holes this year for some reason. Best spot was standing on a sandbar in ankle deep water, and vertical jigging a hole the size of a love seat. Smallest one was 16" and that was under a bridge that has some fishing pressure. Biggest fish and most fish came from spots nobody fishes.
