I ever show these elk.
I was in Northern California a few years back on a project. We were training some plant staff how to encapsulate some nuclear waste. After the training me and my friend Dick would take a ride to check things out. We saw the giant redwoods, the stacks (large rocks) that fell in the ocean, and one day we ran into a few different groups of these tule elk near the Oregon border. Dick had an iphone at the time and it was still my old horrible flip camera phone for me. Dick had some great pics, hope I bump into them and I will add.
I was deep in photobucket today and ran across this one by itself.

Re: Northern California Tule Elk
I wonder how tough it is to get a tag? I have family over there.

Re: Northern California Tule Elk
I am nearly certain this group is protected. But check CA hunting website to be certain. It was well north of Eureka, almost to the Oregon border up the coast hwy.
I just got a new contact in Oregon for elk and mtn lion so I will try to head their the next chance I get.

I was working in california a couple years ago. There were tule elk in the marshes in the delta region and people could hunt them.
