Not too much of a story. First, I am blessed and live in an area with very big deer. I moved in the area 3 years ago and was fortunate enough to get enough land to hunt. I run cameras starting in late summer. Come to October I usually see bucks move into the area. I found this buck mid October and thought something may come in and push him out. Here in Colorado the eastern bow season has three splits. On opening day of the second split (11/7), this buck was under my stand. I chose to wait and see if a giant would show. Well after hunting almost every day and a few good snows, nothing changed.
I got into my stand about 40 minutes before shooting and decided I would take this buck if he showed. The morning started slow with very little movement. At 7:15 a nice 2.5 year old 4x4 came in and things changed. A fork came in and the 4x4 chased him right out. Then a big snort wheeze from the woods brought everything to a stand still. A nice 4x3 came stomping in and the 4x4 quickly left. I have a soft spot for 7’s and got ready to shoot if he came in. With about 20 yards to shooting the 7 stopped and blew up. I looked over my shoulder and saw the buck walking into my setup. The buck locked eyes with the 7 and didn’t like him one bit. Being a little older and bigger than the 7 I decided to take him. I got into position, drew back and shot him at 15 yards. THAWACK! I heard the broad head hit and the arrow stuck into the dirt. The buck ran to the fence line and knew he could not jump it. He walked 10 yards and piled up 37 yards from my stand.

Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you've got the area figured out. Great looking buck with the dark body and antlers.
