2019 DIY OTC Elk
I don’t know what else to say other than that was the most incredible experience of my life thus far!
“Out west” truly is unique and beautiful, but can also be pretty darn unforgiving! Pictures can not replicate the sights or sounds that are out there. It was a “relief” to be off the grid for a little while and just enjoy life. It was a 9.2 mile hike from the truck to where we set up camp.
I was fortunate enough to harvest this beautiful bull. I’ve heard that elk hunting will change a person, and they are right. I think a lot of it has to do with all the work that gets put into it before, during, after the actual trip. Whitetail hunting will never quite be the same! I have never had an animal rattle me as hard as these mountain beasts did when they close in on 30 yards. Wow! What an unbelievable feeling! This was my first time elk hunting, but I guarantee it won’t be the last! Took a total of 22 hrs to get all the meat, antlers, and gear back to the truck, but totally worth it!!
What an amazing time! I will never forget this experience! Hiked in sorta light, hiked out a little more heavy! #publiclandorbust

I hate this thread because it makes me want to make a bad financial decision.

Nice work. Any elk is an accomplishment. Nothing like a Taxadermy bill...
