Whose nervous about states closing hunting to out of state hunters because of covd-19?

We’re planning on an archery elk hunt in Colorado. Just nervous to buy a tag and then it closes

I highly doubt it will happen and if it does I have no doubt they would refund all tag fees if you never get to hunt. Lets hope it doesn't get to that. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Hunting is the most durable revenue stream in regard to Rona. Structurally speaking, nothing needs to be changed. Especially since check stations are being phased out for telecheck.
The sports industry is in trouble. No more bickering about women's teams getting equal pay or coverage. And all those fantasy football people ....well its still a fantasy.

Call the game department and ask them their plan should non resident hunters not be allowed into the state. Or hunting is shut down entirely. As far as refunds.

I have the same concern as vtbuck.

I'm not so sure western states would refund tag fees. They could say "you knew the risk of applying."

Western states rely a lot on NR fees to support their game & fish departments and they never seem to have enough money (so they tell us).

While I couldn't find the exact number of WY antelope licenses sold to R vs NR, I looked at the buck harvest success numbers to come up with the following:

NR successful harvest 14,005 x $341 license fee = $4,775,795
R successful harvest 14,167 x $ 37 license fee = $ 524,179
Difference $4,251,526

While this is a quick and dirty exercise, I don't see WY giving up $4.25 million that easily by returning tag fees should NR hunters not be allowed to hunt this fall.

Another problem with returning tag fees is what do they do about preference points that were used? Do they reinstate them?

I don't have the answer, but it could turn into a real mess.

So far I've struck out everywhere. Still have Wyoming deer and antelope for me and my son. North Dakota rifle mule deer, South Dakota deer and antelope, Arizona deer and sheep. If all those fall thru, i will find an otc hunt somewhere

Drew a mule deer archery tag in CO. Just hope my partner can make it back from France without burning weeks of vaca on quarantine. Surely international flight restrictions will lighten up by August.

Me and my son drew Wyoming antelope tags. His first antelope hunt and my 5th, he's been wanting to try it ever since my last time hunting them 6 years ago.

I'll be headed back to Nebraska this year with my dad, we haven't hunted together for 20 years so it should be fun. I also bought preference points for my wife and I for Wyoming Antelope, should be able to draw a tag next year.
