Interesting. I don't fear snakes looks like I might not survive. ;)

They don't bother me.
I live to release an arrow and watch woods grow into chaos and then grow quite as a mouse in just seconds.

I have never seen a snake and reacted calmly and been like "oh there's a snake." It's always more like a cuss word and jump straight up. They always startle me. I hate them and will turn around and run them over with my truck when I see one sunning in the road.

That's why I live in NE Wisconsin. Some snakes, but not to many yuky ones, snakes and spiders, ugh. Born in s.cal. I remember black widows, tarantulas, and rattlers. U can have them.

I don't like to be surprised by them, but I don't run away screaming like Homer Simpson either. Lol

Looks like there would also be some giant spiders on that overhanging branch.

I hate snakes..very similar to the OP. The fear / surprise is getting less and less over the years though. I couldn't live in the south though. Ill take 4 ft of snow and temps -25 over any snake infested area in the south. lol

Don't mind spiders..

I don't mess with snake anymore.I use to kill them when I was a kid by gripping the tail and doing the whip lash to break there spine. I saw bushman in Africa doing it with poisonous ones. No fear here.

Take your bow and a quiver full of arrows, and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me.
