Hunting Rabbits w/ Slingshot
I've shot rabbits in my backyard before but only recently decided to do so with an off-the-shelf Canadian Tire slingshot and some 5/8" steel ball bearings. I've had shot opportunities but nothing's connected yet. It seems like the moment I purchased the slingshot the backyard rabbits only begin browsing at midnight. I'm used to hunting pressured deer, but not pressured rabbits. Does anyone else hunt small game - rabbits in particular - with a slingshot? Are there any recommendations?

Good tip. I've already done just that successfully with my bow.

Pretty sure in Ontario too. We'll have to check the laws on that one Palmbardier.

Oh good call. I never really thought of it that way. I just want to keep them out of my wife's garden. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to advocate breaking any hunting regulations.

Ever heard of a rabbit gum? It's a box trap. That might work if you're wanting a little fun out of it. Then turn em loose down the road a ways, or kill em in daylight
Yea they're in my garden too when the plants are young. When everything starts to get bigger, they pretty much leave it alone. Can't blame them for wanting to eat. But they are a pain in the but sometimes.
When I was young (and dumber) we use to hunt them at night with the truck head lights on backroads. They'd sit still with the light on them. Pretty easy shot with a .22. We never really thought about it being illegal, or I didn't anyways. Hate that now, but we all do things we regret at some point. But wow that's been like 40+ years ago.

You can snare them where they go through the fence. That way the garden produces the whole gamut of proteins.

Man, that brings back some memories. Haven't killed a rabbit with a sling in at least 15 years.

Re: Hunting Rabbits w/ Slingshot
I have tons of em on my property behind the house. I snipe em off with my ruger air hawk pellet gun.. Squirrels r the same. Half my property is hickory n walnuts.. Whenever I get the urge for a small game dinner Ill kill a few. I like to keep a couple in the freezer too.

Re: Hunting Rabbits w/ Slingshot
I shot them when I was a kid with a wrist rocket using my dads muzzleloader balls. My uncle use to bring over scrap lead from his construction jobs. We would melt it down and make ammo for our sling shots.

Re: Hunting Rabbits w/ Slingshot
I haven't hunted with a slingshot in 20+ years. I'm not sure I could hit the broad side of barn. It's funny though I always think to myself when I walk by the air rifle slingshot stuff at the front of the tractor supply I should buy another wristrocket.
