Hunting Hawks, for photos!

Unread postby mrjbigfoot » Fri Feb 19, 2016 2:41 pm

I've been doing quite a bit of birding lately & have gotten some nice photos of big urban Hawks. I have a Cooper's Hawk that hangs out in my neighborhood and he's been stalking my bird feeders. I've also been watching a couple Red Tails and today, I scored on an up close experience with a big Red Tail! I'm really good at spotting them/their silhouettes from a long ways off, so this 1st picture will give you an idea! I hope you enjoy!

Nice! Those eyes say it all. I've witnessed a few getting pigeons in the city while walking my mail route

I like the close ups. Is that with your Sony video cam with digital zoom?

I took pictures with both my Sony DSC H400 and my Canon T5. The up close Red Tail was only 10 yards away from me so it didn't take to much zoom. I keep Vanguard window clamp mount tripod bases on the bottom of both cameras so I can switch them out easy. I also got a Vanguard tri-pod that the window clamp will clamp onto so I can carry it and both cameras when I go on hikes.

Very Nice photos...
As a former Raptor Biologist, always glad to run into other folks that appreciate our "non-game" birds.
Maybe after I figure this site out, I'll post a raptor pic or two.
