Neat idea. I saw very similar setup but they used wire coat hanger with a paper towel tube over it and baited it too with peanut butter. They used antifreeze in the bucket since it was put into cabins in Canada during the winter.

Been wanting to make one to catch mice for trapping. Plus I'll be doing my part to thin out the Lyme infected buggers!

We have one we put in our camper at deer camp. The week before deer opener we set it, one week later there were 40 mice dead in it. We knew we had mice but no idea of the numbers. After that we would get a few a week till December then nothing... We used a pop can on a rod.

Yass my favorite. If you're using poison the draw to moisture is already deadly.
I would like to add If anyone has access to oats, barley,
Or even grass seed. Dump a few heaping handfuls will on top of the water. I've used just water and oats without the spinner. They litterally jump into the bucket too drown.
