I've been 3 times. Once year before last and twice last year. Killed a few last year. Kind of fun. I'm lookin forward to this season, as long as it doesn't interfere with deer season.

I Used to hunt ducks and geese alot in the farm fields of Wisconsin, still have alot of decoys. I gave it up for several reasons, first being, I just couldn't make them taste good, and the second was it conflicted with bow hunting whitetails too much. I must admit it was a fun time. I enjoyed the challenge of calling in a big flock of Canada giants. Brings back good memories, as I type this.

That's my biggest hangup. That it will interfere with bowhunting. My son is on me all the time to go but I'd rather deer hunt if I have a tag left. Never have goose hunted. The taste varies quite a bit from duck to duck. Teal and woodies seem to be the best.

Limited duck hunting for me. Hard to do both deer and duck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Shoot 119 honkers and 50+ mallards last year. My passion is waterfowl but my lab is getting old we only hunt these things in extreme conditions ( December hunts). Can't get a new lab until my scrappers are potty trained. With hunting them in December I get the best of both worlds archery and waterfowl.
As for getting them to taste great PM me if you want a couple great recipes

Ducks/Geese/Pheasants AM, Bucks PM. I don't have any good AM whitetail spots outside of the rut, so it was an easy choice for me on how to handle those multiple addictions. During the rut, I mainly target whitetails, but if I've done a few all day sits in a row, I'll take a morning off and chase one of the flying critters.

I use to be a pretty hard core duck/goose hunter and only rifle hunted for deer. Once I picked up the bow my duck/goose days were numbers. I do plan to pick it up again in the next couple of years, my boy is probably ready to hit the blind with me and I think it would be fun for him. Plus you can duck/goose hunt the mornings and still bowhunt the evenings.

Like some others have stated, I was very big into waterfowl and really enjoyed it. But than i picked up a bow and its hard to do both. But since my property is 2 hrs from home, i can waterfowl hunt during the week. I have a decoy trailer thats full, and my cousins and younger brother really enjoy it so i go out often. Last yr i went to ND with my uncle cousin and brother and man o man was that fun. Going back in mid october cant wait!! Ill be there from the 20-26 than im at my cabin in a stand for the following 3 weeks! Cant wait!!!
