Canada Duck & Geese hunt suggestions

Postby tmarbut » Sun Oct 09, 2016 10:42 pm

Heading to Saskatchewan in a week. My dad is taking me on a week long duck & goose hunt. Am very excited but a little concerned as I have not hunted in these conditions before & not sure how best to prepare for the cold weather.

We will be approx 150 miles north of the ND/Montana border. The forecast right now calls for lows in mid-20's & highs mid 40's,with 30-40% chance of showers several of the days. I expect the wind will also be a factor as we set up the blind in open fields.

With that all being said, what suggestions are there for this south GA guy to keep from freezing?

Thanks in advance!

The right layers and I like to carry hand warmers in my pockets and had my mom sew pockets in the armpits of my jacket and groin of my pants to put them in for super late season. Otherwise up there you should be in the birds good enough that the adrenaline will keep you warm

Lots of layers, big parka that will break the wind and as mentioned hand warmers will be nice, especially if you are busy doing lots of shooting.

Hand warmers arent usually necessary down here. I would never have thought of this. Many thanks for your suggestions.
