Mykel Hawke, a US Army Special Forces survival expert had a real good show with his wife called Man, Woman, Wild on Discovery Channel. I believe you can still find both seasons one and two on Netflix. IMO, this is the best show that actually teaches many things about surviving in different areas of the world. He also wrote a book on survival. I bought this last year, and the book covers alot of valuable information.
