Tip for fishing horizontal jigs with micro plastics

Unread postby Brad » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:03 pm

A few years ago I learned a simple and easy trick to help catch more fish when using horizontal jigs. After you tie your knot, rotate the line backward so your knot is on the side of the eye rather than the top, this allows the bait to hang horizontal and makes for a better presentation, especially when fishing micro plastics. Often times the fish will approach from the tail end and "suck" in the bait, and this makes it less detectable to them. It also puts a better action if your plastics when the tail can move in a more life like fashion. When you hook a fish, you will need to re do this because the fight will move your knot up. You can also use a loop knot so your jig is always free to balance in the middle, but I have not learned how to tie that yet.
