More newbies

Unread postby Edcyclopedia » Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:51 pm

Jake and I setup about 1.5 hours before some of his little friends joined us.
Lots of action and as soon as I set the 5th trap it was non-stop fish.
This is about 1/3 of them here...

His friends came to ice skate and decided to fish for a few hours instead. :D
They all caught their 1st fish, 2nd fish, 3rd , etc...
It was a good day!
After setting the hook and handing the line to one of the kids, she told me take it was too big, so I yanked this Bad Larry from the hole.
It broke the line just as I got it to the hole and I dove in to pulled it out - Big fun...
The look on the kids faces was priceless!

Looking good with a bunch of fish and kids.

Always impressed by the perch size in your lake. I assume the Big Larry is a pickerel. Why the big Larry name?

Bad Larry - Not sure of the origination, but may be an East Coast/North East/NH thing...

Means something like;
Ed says - "Wow, did you see that 1969 Boss 429?"
Jason says - "the owner just opened the hood, let's go check out that BAD LARRY!!!"

Those Perch (all but one - which was not in the pic) where somewhat smaller today.

Yes - that's a chain Pickerel...
What was hilarious is the kids thought I reached in and caught the fish with my bare hands.
They couldn't comprehend that the line broke - there eyes were as big as saucers
I think they believe I am the Great White Bwana

Awesome Ed! You may have created some new outdoors people . Looks like I gotta take a trip to NH and fish with you.

Ok get it now. That the saying was just for the fish.

Bet it came from the St Lawrence River system.

I know quite a few guys call it " the Larry".

I might be ready to fish by then. Still cleaning up my sisters burnt house. But a little fishing does sound like fun. I wonder what a NH non res fishing license is? I already buy a NH saltwater license.
