Re: Sheds or Beds?
Beds. I personally can't do both. I get counterproductive. Sheds are a bonus as I stumble on one while bed hunting which is little to none.

I try to shed hunt but I always get distracted and start scouting/bed hunting.

Re: Sheds or Beds?
find the bed then while I'm scouting for stand setups and learning the bed I normally find all the sheds if I find a big one I will fan out and try to find the set. find the bed find the shed they go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Sheds for sure. I see I'm in the minority. If I had to choose hunting or shed hunting, I'd probably choose shed hunting. Luckily I don't have to make that choice.

Beds / scouting for sure. Many times with sheds, you are grid searching areas looking for the sheds. I find it helps me very little for the upcoming year. I find it really does not maximize my scouting time.
BUT I am not a shed hunter. However, I do have plans to do some this winter.

I hear ya I get the same excitement if not more finding a shed as shooting the deer. I feel like a kid on Christmas day when I can put it all together. get a view of a big bucks life. find a monster bed up in the mountains find his sheds laying in them then killing the buck in his own game is priceless.

I used shed hunt. Then I learned that I find more sheds when I bed hunt.

Re: Sheds or Beds?
Sheds tell me exactly what a buck was wearing and is probably alive. Beds tell me where a buck was bedding. May not be alive and often aren't. Beds in the areas of sheds is a good thing.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I really enjoy finding sheds, but beds are a more important piece of the puzzle.

Re: Sheds or Beds?
Beds for me but I always seem to find sheds close by. Found my first matching set today. One side was in a bed and the other side was 10 foot away on an exit trail. Seems early but I found 4 so far this year. Last year I think I found around 15 just scouting beds on public.

Beds and last seasons sign. If I find antlers great, but I am always looking for new areas to target for the upcoming season.

Re: Sheds or Beds?
I say sheds but every bit of every Moment outside is about recon when I’m truthful. Heck, I could be having dinner with my family on the deck and scheming a stealth entry or that “one spot” or...... it’s all about hunting them.
That and I had an epiphany one day that that sheds are like trail cam pics. They’re great to have, drool over and get...but they don’t mean chit with regard to hunting. There are also a lot of dudes with tons of them that couldn’t hunt a mature buck in the their own sleeping bag. Locally there is a subset of hunting guys that will go anywhere and do anything for sheds.... not sure why finding a shed in an urban non hunting area is any different than hacking the rack off a roadkill in the ditch. That’s just me though

Re: Sheds or Beds?
I am praying we get some more snow to make the beds easier to find.
I look for sheds in march when 90% of them have dropped. beds and sign until then
