I agree 100% assuming snares are set outside bird seasons

I agree guys, but people take hikes in the state forest that I trap in. Any dog off a leash will surely run around some off trail, I don't need to find a dead house pet in a snare. I may try them in February and a little further in deep country.

Bridger #2 OS worked good for me last year. First year trapping, caught one big male coyote. Full pad catch and absolutely no trap damage done.

Tried a lot of traps over the years but when i got the mb650s i needed to look no further. Was like going from a ford escort to a F250. A real coyote machine.
The only other trap that has served me well for coyotes is the victor 1.75 coyote os. They are strong. Have had some get a little tweaked after some catches but they are still pretty good.

MB 550 two coiled has held everything from a skunk to the largest canine we have here. The 650s are nice but can be hard on fox especially greys. They also require a setter where the 550s you can set by hand. Bridger 175s are decent but they require some modification and the pans are a bit on the flimsy side. My advise would be to get the 550s if you can afford them. Double stake swivel or chain stakes if you have coyotes.
