Out of curiosity, and to keep from making the same mistake, what were the reasons for "more pressure" at the other end of the marsh? Any ideas? I mean, what would draw hunterrs to the other end of the marsh as opposed to where the buck actually was?

Easy access, and traditional woods to set up in... Where I was hunting there were few trees. Mostly cattails and brush.

Probably 4 to 6 years ago... Not positive, early to mid October.

It was just a day I could hunt... It was Oct. 24th if you want to look... I often see them move early around bedding. I use the moon phase for evening hunts where I need to hunt farther back and worry more about the deer making that far. I was pretty close to this buck... So I expected daylight movement.

Im not as high and open as it appears... Video has a way of making things look different. I was in thick nasty brush all the way up to my stand position. I was able to set the stand up from in the thick cover and could see the buck was in the bed from that position. Also, and this is important... I come up the back of the tree with the tree between me and the buck for cover, I move slow and watch around the tree. Once I could see the buck, I moved very slow and always watched him. I set the stand up around the tree facing the buck with cover between my movements and the buck. The hardest slowest part is getting into the stand without getting caught. USING WIND, AND OTHER NOISE WHEN YOU MOVE HELPS, but "slow" is the key.

Just curious as to why you decided to hunt that that buck with a SW wind. Wouldn't the buck have been most likely to be in that bedding area on an East wind?
