I like cutting it close 8-)
We need to pick up some better equipment to fix the wind noise... Annoyed me too. I think the content over rides it though.

Dan..... just to pick your brain a little.....

What made you believe that buck was coming from that far away ? I know you said there was daylight pictures, but how did you know he wasn't coming out of the woods just half way back to where you thought ? Did you have that land scouted for beds ? meaning, did you find a bed back there where you thought he was coming from ? Just curious......... thanks.

I thought somewhere in the video he said he found all the beds on that property in the spring. if I get some time I will check the vid again and confirm.

Dan,

Love the content of the show. Love the fact that you are using forum users pictures and real life scenarios. I know this hunt was in Iowa, but you are from WI. Looked like the trail camera pictures were supporting mineral or baiting to your Iowa hunt. I would hate for folks to get the wrong image of using mineral or bait for trail cameras seeing the majority of your followers and fans are from WI.

Keep up the good work.

Good point Jim... I was real careful to make sure I said to check your local laws... Bait & minerals are illegal in a lot of areas. And even where legal, there is often restrictions about how close you can hunt, or what time of year you can put them out.
I thought it was an important topic to bring up in the show because bait or minerals will often more than triple your sightings...
I feel that it is the viewers job to make sure everything he does is legal... Laws very so much from state to state that I would have to do a lot of research and post a lot of disclaimers if I worried about whats legal in each state... To keep the show entertaining I kept my "legal" comment brief...

That was the closest bedding area for that wind. Yes, that land was scouted.

Dan,

Well put about the legal jumbo. I think you put it gracefully for what you showed. I know some folks just are not in tune to the laws now days and tend to show just a bit too much and either don't know, don't care, or know they are doing it wrong. The laws are hard to keep up with now days as you know here in Eastern WI. WI is pretty strict and I tend to see more and more guys using mineral attractants every year to get good pictures. I am looking at getting my first couple of trail cameras out this week sometime. Picked up 3 wildgame cams on a budget.

Great buck by the way.

Nice hunt Dan.
I see what you mean with the wind has to be good for the buck and also good for the hunter. The buck is using his nose walking in the field, if the wind would change a little bit you could have been busted. I know from the show it was a strong wind and chances like that shouldnt happen. When seeing this I need to hunt some spots and take my chances I think I can get away with it just like the show. I think this is the biggest part of the show, showing the wind the stand and the deers direction on walking. Also a side note some hunters would think your nuts for hunting the tree you are in, going off all the reading they have done about being in the woods.
