Background on my taxi. He is a Barbour by trade but does more work with taxidermy. Last I heard he still had the contract to do all of sea worlds fish and what not(which is funny because I don't think his fish is his best work). Anyway he prefers exotic stuff, like African stuff but I guess that probably comes with doing tons of deer every year. Here are a couple he did for me.

This buck was killed in NC. I love the detail in the eyes. In my opinion the eyes are what makes the deer look alive. Also personally I like the ears up. I dropped this deer off the day after Thanksgiving and got it back in April.
.
This one the ears are back and personally to me it looks a little unnatural. I'm guessing he did this because it's a semi sneak mold but on my next one I will be sure to say something about that. Other than that this deer was killed in a Florida swamp. I don't think he ever saw much sunlight. His hooves looked almost rotten from the water. I thought the taxi did a good job with his color. The deer was more black than brown. I dropped this deer off in July and got it back the first week of September.
I've got a pig another guy did that is so awful I keep it in the garage. Crooked tongue, paint caked on. Just bad. It took 2 years to get that pig back too.

I've used a guy in Southeast MN in the past but he's about $700 now so I tried a new guy with my 2015 buck. I'm picking it up on Friday. The finished mount looks great in the picture so hopefully I made the right decision.
