A friend and I are looking into an African safari trip out of Port Elizabeth area and need to line up a reliable taxidermist over there to handle the horns of our animals after we get them (remove from cores, clean, dip and pack to export back to us)
My main concern is the discoloration of the horns that you so often see when getting them back. Most are blackened and greasy looking after being processed. Is this just something you deal with on African animals? I’m a taxidermist myself so I’m picky and would like to find someone who can keep them as natural as possible.
South Africa - has anyone been?
