Velvet buck done

Unread postby Bigburner » Fri Dec 27, 2019 12:58 pm

This years mount is done. I got him back on November 30th. He came out amazing. The coat is so short. He only had a few guard hairs coming in. I love the pose and I had a great spot to put him in.

Muddy don't know what the pose is called exactly. I know its a McKenzie form. He said it was a pretty recent form. something new in the last couple years. Its head down and to the right. I wanted the ears only slightly back. But after looking at everything he had as far as examples it stuck out to me. for one it takes up less space but the taxidermist felt that it looks really good on early season deer. since it wasn't killed during the rut and not having the neck all swelled out. All I know is that I dig it a lot and its the only deer I've ever had a proper shoulder mount on. everything for me has been euro and skull caps. Mostly from a self reliance and financial reason. But what a first.
