I could help somebody with Bear if they wanted to try to hunt in the S W side of Michigan's U.P.. Im not real confident in setting someone up on deer or turkey though.

Would you consider Maine? Deer pop has been at all time low for several years. Great bird hunting . Moose is by lottery draw. 10% go to non residents. I have guided many successfull hunts. As much of a guaranteed hunt as any free range hunt can be.Can use bow/gun etc. Several seasons ie Sept,Oct. . Let me know if your interested can let you know zones etc. Largest bear pop in lower 48. Great bird hunting I have NAVHDA GWP.Primarily grouse and woodcock. though we could mix in some ducks too.

I think the price tag for a IA whitetail is a serious deterrent for many. Not to mention, IMO, many states have better public hunting to offer at half or more the price tag. I have 4 points, but didn't even apply. I can get a elk tag cheaper.....pretty sad.

North MO is $225 OTC, makes it hard to justify spending $750 to hunt Iowa. Plus if I'm not tagged out in WI I decided I don't need/want to travel I don't have pressure to used a hard to draw/$$$ tag.

Great point I think some guys spread themselves too thin and struggle on everything. I have always said fill your home state tag and then go out of state. Iowa gets a lot of ink but other states are a much better value; tree for tree, buck for buck, dollar for dollar.

Man Iowa is up to $750 now? Getting a little crazy down there, I guess they priced me right out of it.

Good point!

I'm in Cananadaigua, NY right now for a wedding. That evening drive was uneventful despite some good looking farm country. Ready to go back ;)

I hunted Iowa last fall, we had a blast. Yes the tag was pricey but the hunting was good and the camaraderie was priceless. The cost of the tag was quickly forgotten. The deer are far less spooky compared to WI.

Plus $50/ year for preference points which can add another $150-$200.

How did you do?
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

True, true. Once that money is burned I forget about it; otherwise, I'd break down and cry if I calculated the overall cost.
