3 for 3 on WI turkeys

Unread postby Chad Gus 715 » Tue May 26, 2020 4:53 am

Spring turkey hunting is my favorite season in Wisconsin, i eagerly look forward to it every year. This year was no different, i drew a 2nd season tag, picked up a leftover 4th and 6th season tag as well. The wife and kids had the other season's covered, so i got to hunt the whole year. The first bird come on the last morning of the season, i found him on my buddies land gobbling up a storm on the river bottom. I moved to within 100 yards, setup and 15 minutes later he was standing in front of me.
Bird number 2 was killed on the last day of the season. I found him feeding out in one of the neighbors fields, working his way toward my uncle's land. I drove around to the backside of his property, hustled my way towards the field. Found a big tree to sit next too and waited, bout 45 minutes later he crossed the fence and it was all over.
Bird number 3 come on Saturday morning. I started out behind my house where i called in a Jake, after he left and headed toward the tom gobbling across the road. Those birds were getting farther and farther away, i don't have permission for that side of the road. I decided to head home, grab a couple sd cards and check the camera's in my uncle's woods. I get there and there's a tom gobbling back on the small field that is located in the middle of the woods. I get to the corner of the field closest to me, sit down and give a couple soft yelps. He gobbled and strutted his way slowly to me, once he got into range, i shot and my season was over.
