Re: BIG Woods Buck -- area winner
[glow=red]My dad's buck won the "Big Buck Contest" by weight... for a pretty big area.[/glow]
New gun and bragging rights - I think it's a .270 bolt Tikka. Not sure about the scope.
I saw probably 20 bucks in 16 days of hunting. The biggest one I passed up was a decent 8-pointer. That particular area I can get away with letting some medium deer go without much risk of another hunter killing them, especially later in the gun season. However, no good deed goes unpunished. I think that buck got shot about an hour later. I'll be able to find out. I was kind of hoping that deer would make it through another year.
I didn't fill my tag with a "meat deer" though I had a spiker in the scope near the end of the hunt, yesterday (last day). He was with a doe and I found that interesting - so I waited to see if she'd pick up a different buck later in the day and maybe swing back through.
Now I'm heading into Muzzleloader season with my own tag intact. Maybe I'll get to hunt a few days on the ground with snow. I'm kind of low on days I can hunt though.

Re: Big Woods Buck
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
