Done early in Michigan
Fill tag # 2 today. I shot him last night. Didn't find him until this afternoon. Here's the setup.
I was hunting at my dads property. My dad has a 30 acre wood lot that is boardered by fields on 2 sides a road and the closed down state prison.
I setup in the NE corner of the woods about 100yds off the property line and 30 yards away from the field edge. Had does and fawns come out of the prison property early and head to the field. Around 7pm here comes the buck nose to the ground following the same trail as the does. He got about 15 yards away from the field edge and started paralleling the field and came right to me.
That was awesome see the buck do this. I don't know how many times I've read the threads on parallel trails. Another prime example of how much knowledge can be gained from the Beast.
Well he ended up spotting me and veard of into some saplings and stopped. I had a good opening at his vitils. So I shot. Probably rushed a little. Ended up hitting a limb, sent my arrow sideways hitting him in the hind quarter. Somehow the arrow switched directions and ended up going through the guts and poked out the other side. I knew the shot wasn't good right away. Couldn't even tell where the arrow entered. I was bummed. Ended up following tuned over leafs with little spots of fatty blood. Found the arrow and he started to bleed better for a while and then I found an empty bed with little blood. I backed out.
Went back today, found no blood after the bed. Followed deer trails to some bedding. Walked around in the bedding for about an hour found a spot of blood. I just kept looking in beds and finally came acrossed him. I was pumped. This is the first time being tagged out with my bow this early. Pretty awesome.
