Re: Another flintlock buck!
Congratulations. Very nice way to end the season.
I wish more states had specific muzzle loader seasons like Pennsylvania does.

This is awesome.

Re: Another flintlock buck!
Thanx guys!
I still can't decide whether or not I wanna have a shoulder mount done or not. Really beating myself up over it. Some of the first words to my buddy was "you just cost me $500!" Meaning it was a no brainer. Now I just can't decide. My biggest buck and honestly it's going to be tough to top with a flintlock. And I killed him with a flintlock I built. Full mount or skull mount, I wanna mount the rifle below him.
I just bought a house and hate to spend the money..but my taxi will let me pay him whenever. Not like I need the money right NOW. I just bought a house and have lots of wall space...lol. Ugh!
I just realized in 5 years I've killed 4 flintlock bucks and 1 with a rifle..pretty cool...in PA there aren't a ton of flintlock bucks killed...lots of reasons..not many guys flintlock hunt...many guys kill a buck prior to the season...and finding a buck can be tough.
I will get more pics of that rifle on...they are all on Photobucket still...

Re: Another flintlock buck!
Here's a few pics of the rifle..
It's nothing historically correct. I put together what I thought was the ultimate flintlock. Lol. My tastes instantly changed and now I am into more true Pennsylvania longrifles...but, it does the job.
I used a green mountain fast twist barrel. I'm shooting 300gr Thor's which are full bore Barne's expanders.
Last year was the first year I hunted with that rifle. I killed a doe and that buck with it.

Re: Another flintlock buck!
That's a real muzzleloader kill right there. Not a high powered scoped rifle like so many states allow these days. Wish we could go back to the real primitive season only allowing weapons like yours. That's a real cool looking flintlock.
