Congratulations! Nothing like sharing that experience with a fresh bow hunter. I hope it’s the first of many.

Re: Flingin Jr strikes!
this is one of the best kill zone write ups I've read. My little boy Hudson is tagging along with me all the time and is already saying, "When is that day when I can shoot a deer?" He's five but he's referring to next season when he can hunt juvenile in TN.
Congrats to your son. I hope to read many more stories of you guys tag teaming some big bucks!

Congrats! Nothing like family hunting time. Memories that never die. Some of my most memorable hunts were with my grandpas

Killed his first deer at the age of six with a gun, and has killed several more with a gun. As fun as those hunts were I just couldn’t wait until he was old enough to experience archery hunting. Up close and personal!
Last night it all came together. We were both hanging from saddles on the edge of a bedding area right behind the house. We had two small bucks come in and never gave him a shot and I thought the evening was over. Right at last light this nice doe came in and started feeding at 12 yards with no clue in the world we were hanging right above her. With light fading quick she finally took the two steps needed to clear a limb and she was perfectly broadside calmly feeding. I told Austin to draw and he did it slow and smooth just like I taught him. I was looking right over his shoulder telling him to take his time and aim and within a few seconds the arrow was buried to the nock right through her heart! A quick death run and she was dead inside 60 yards!! Needless to say we were both shaking!
I think it’s safe to say he is now hooked. Before bed last night he said “I can’t wait to hunt during the rut!”
Now that is COOL...
