Happy day Happy day
What a morning! First off we got dusted with a couple inches of snow early this morning. I haven’t seen snow since like 86. I figured the National Guard would be called in.
Was gonna leave out part of the story but figure maybe someone can relate or needs a good laugh. Hunt actually started yesterday morning. Worst day of bow hunting I have ever had. I carry a 5 arrow quiver and lost or broke every single arrow I had without hitting squat. Sadly I shot some of them more than once. Also, the same boar I shot today I whiffed on yesterday. Was hunting them spot and stalk style and popped over a ridge to see him bedded down looking away from me at 20 yards. I shot right over him.
Anyway, not being smart enough to get discouraged. I came home tuned up some more arrows and said I will try again tomorrow. Conditions were the same as yesterday, so figured I would pop over that same ridge and see if lightning strikes twice. He was there again in the same dug out spot. This time my arrow found its mark. He wasn’t happy and for a split second I thought things were about to get dicey. Didn’t get the best penetration and the blood trail was spotty at best. He made it a total of about 200 yards b4 I found him. Then that satisfaction set in and I cracked a smile. Was a good day!

He was well over 300 live weight. That’s the best guess I got. I killed one a few years back that was 235lbs and this just dwarfs him so I’m just basing it on that. Took 2 buddies to help me get him out and we looked like idiots trying to get him in the back of my truck.

Congrats boogie!
So what's the best way to cook up a wild hog? Seems like something smoked would be tasty.

I got to this line.... "Then that satisfaction set in and I cracked a smile." and I could see the pic of how huge he was and thought the next line was going to be "then reality set in and wondered how I'd get him out."

Yes sir! I’m fortunate to live in a pretty hog friendly environment and have had a good run with them. Always said I want to mount one. But they are pretty pricey so I’ve been holding out for something special. For me this is the one.
