Maybe that was discussed somewhere before and I missed it?

There is a thread some where. But alas, I didn't know how to bookmark things on here when I read it. The discusion mentioned Dr. Ken Nordberg. Here's a link to his ideas on it. For northern Minnesota deer.

Dan and Mario,

This was an excellent series. Your coverage on how to set up to hunt a buck bed was a real eye opener.

I know I'm late to the party on this, but absolutely WOW. Dan and Mario, nicely done. Listened to all of the podcasts in the past week and some more than once. I really appreciate you guys and your willingness to teach.

Hello,

Dan and myself are looking to record another session of QA for podcasts and online videos:

We would love your questions and input again on what you would like to hear about. We will probably start recording the sessions this weekend.

Proposed Topics

- 2017 season in review - the good, the bad, the better :D
- The first sit - Being mobile, being confident, why they are so important, what you learn, and more...
- Late season patterns - food sources, high ground bedding, travel corridors, and more...
- Seasons of change - how the change in foliage, and topography throughout the season can significantly change primary bedding locations
- Stand placement - the art of picking a tree, the mobile hunter's quest
- Cold weather hunts
- Spring scouting - what you should be looking for now, what type of knowledge to gather now that will pay off in the fall
- Trail Camera - the good, the bad, the trap... how trail cameras can impact our instinct

Please add more suggestions to the thread!

That's a really great list already Mario & Dan!

I'd like to know tips for determining the right time to hunt certain bedding areas. I have 6 bedding areas I consider primary. How to determine when is the best time to hunt each one. Terrain, food, location, pressure?

Glad to hear you guys are doing it again! I would really love to see a topic on how to take your cyber scouting skills to the next level. Basically, what are the things that are not obvious to most cyber scouters that you guys key in on? I primarily hunt cattail marshes (easier for cyber scouting), tamarack swamps, and big woods in Northern WI. I don't hunt hill country but I'm sure plenty of beasts would be interested in that as well.

Listening to the podcasts recently, some thoughts and questions have come up.

Dan you shoot a buck, you think the shot is good. You are a couple miles back in some thick bedding. Now what? Please explain your next process. Are you concerned about disturbing the area? Will you field dress a deer where you find it? What items will you bring with you to help track? Is there a maximum amount of guys you will allow to come with you?

Thanks Dan and Mario!

Here's another one...How do I determine which beds are worth sitting, and which to just walk past?

I'm guessing many of us are hunting beds or in bedding areas, you would not even take a second look at.

Question about in season scouting and going in blind in hill country - question is where do I stop and climb a tree? One example: cyber scouting leads me to a likely area, call it a point off a ridge. To get there I walk the leeward side along the military crest and I begin to see the sign I hoped for (fresh big track, maybe a rub or two, etc.). Do I stop and hang? or do I press on and get closer to the actual point because that's where I expected the bed to be? does sign dictate or logic? Assume the timing is before the rut phases. thanks

How much or how hard do you look for doe bedding? Do you just assume the thick nasty stuff bucks may bed around the edges of will have doe bedding? Or do you go dive in and search it all to confirm does are bedding in a spot?

Just wanted to clarify. This all relates to how we can use doe bedding to better hunt bucks.

river bottoms surrounded by reclaimed farm country down to the banks in some places and high nobs full of cedar patches surrounded by private farm country with bean fields and corn where to set up from September threw January.
