Bowhunter4life Podcast Question Ideas - Submit Yours Here!

Unread postby seazofcheeze » Sat Feb 13, 2021 9:12 am

Hey guys, Justin (Bowhunter4life) has graciously agreed to come on my podcast. I don't want to squander the opportunity, so I'm looking for input from the Beast community on what questions you'd like to hear from Justin. I can't promise I'll be able to fit them all in, but I'll try to the extent it fits the time frame/overall outline. With that said, what do you want to know? Post em below!

I always like to hear how everyone got started into hunting. Their roots etc., and also their "Aha" moment that got them to the next level.

After bumping a big buck from his bed, explain in detail how you chose the setup for the bucks entry back to the location, for same day setup and when coming back to hunt him on similar wind conditions later on.

He seems to really find big deer every year, so what is his process of finding mature deer? What is his approach?

Perhaps give us a story of a buck that got away, and what did you learn from the experience?

With his aggressive go get em style,,, does he get on other younger bucks and choose to pass?? Does he have a 3 younger buck pass to an actual mature enough buck to kill ratio?? Or something like that??

I would like to hear how he locates big bucks. Both at his main stays around home, and out of state on new properties.

How much does he rely on spring scouting? Wondering if trail cams are part of his game (explanation of how he likes to run them would be awesome), maybe he likes to keep going until he jumps a shooter... just want to know the methods to his madness.

To build off of this, describe his approach to cyber scouting. Use it? A lot? Sparingly?

Does he learn a relatively fewer number of properties inside and out, is he constantly moving to new spots and hunting the first time on those properties?

Talk about the difference between spring scouting and in-season scouting as it pertains to his success. Which one does he do more of and why?

What terrain features does he like to key off of, and at what times of the year?

What’s the No. 1 thing that has put him on big bucks?

Going in blind to new areas. Mistakes he has made and mistakes he sees others commonly make.

I would be interested in hearing about his pre-rut in season scouting techniques. Especially in season scouting areas that he plans to scout/hang and hunt.
Does he in season scout with specific suspected bedding areas in mind, and if so, how does he scout and try to avoid contaminating the area.

What speed do you move while scouting in season vs still hunting?
What sign or terrain/cover signals for you to slow your pace?
How often do you bump deer while scouting/hunting?
Do you prefer ground or elevated sits in hill country?
