I stayed after work a few hours to cyber scout and listen to this. Awesome all around Mario and Josh. As with the others I'll be listening multiple times.

P.S. I liked that this one ran a little longer. I can listen to these all day.

Great job! Like all the podcasts it will take me five listens to start to absorb all the information in it but that's a pretty good problem to have Thanks to all involved for doing this.

Question

The part about bucks running creeks. What do you see in the hills with streams running downhill? Same type of thing or not so much considering the elevation change?

What about other terrain features intersecting with streams in hills?

Thanks.

Both those scenarios sound like tricky wind situations. I'd prefer flats with creeks so the wind is true

I will bump back to the top a thread of Bill Winke from Midwest Whitetail talking about wind in Creek bottoms... I agree with what he had to say

Doesn't mean the creek bottom can't be in hilly terrain... but a bigger bottom chunk will provide less swirling wind... having a true wind or thermals is important to me

I liked everything Bucky had to say... One thing made me chuckle. When you talked about hunting till your "burned out" I smiled cause I remember those days well... Not much balance at all just pound, pound, pound every free second you got to hunt then when the hunting got good I was so burned out I was not thinking straight and would make mistakes or get caught off guard. I remember one year, 1990 I think? That I hunted al most every day of the season and ended up getting my buck on the last minute of the last day...
The reason I chuckled at that is I was just thinking about doing a post on avoiding "bowhunter burnout"... Good stuff. 8-)

I could have killed a big/busted up 8 point on my first sit on Ohio public last fall. I targeted a flat river bottom in hill country that was difficult to access(chest waders were involved) and intended to make my way up the ridge. I crossed the river and noticed a subtle trail (just leaves kicked up) just off the river. I set up and as daylight broke, I could see 5-10 rubs along the trail paralleling the river. I hunted for 1.5 hrs and could have killed 2 bucks on that trail. Also, as my kids get older I have less time to scout and even less time to hunt (fall birthdays), you are starting to convince me to get back in the trail camera game. Thanks Mario and Bucky for another great, info packed podcast.

Just wanted to add your passion for big buck hunting is incredible. You not only talk the talk but also back it up with big bucks every year and I respect that. Awesome podcast. 8-)
