This is going to be tough this weekend. That cool front is passing through Arkansas also. The highs are suppose to be in the 70's. All I can do is dream.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Just got off an observation stand in se wi. After losing contact with my #1 target after teal/goose opener, went on a hunch and found him 1.5 miles away. Ground attack is ON this weekend. Canoe for bullet proof access. Sleep is going to be a challenge this week.

Posting this a few days late but...

went out last weekend on an early ML hunt to an area I had never been to. Picked a spot on the map and threw up the stand before light. 9am, spiker come through. Climbed down to pound some ground about 10am. Checked miles of swamp with out any deer sign or deer. Finally kind of stumbled into a nice bedding area right off a main trail. Found a very fresh 'pancaked' bed. Big bed, old rubs near it. I knew the buck was close by watching me. As I stood up from kneeling in the bed the buck was about 30 yards and took off. I trailed him through the tall grass and he was headed towards the dirt road. Made it out to the road to see if he crossed, cut his track and he ran right down the road and looped back into his bedding area with the wind at his back. I tipped my hat to him and headed back to the truck and called it a day.

Until next time mr buck.

The season opens in GA (as well as a couple others in the SE I believe) this weekend.
I cannot make it though it should be good hunting for whomever does. :violin:
Good luck to all the beasts that do go!
I hope there will be some good stories and pics by the time Monday rolls around.

Kansas opens Monday. I'll be in observation mode Saturday and Sunday and hopefully moving in for a kill for Mondays opener.

That is both kind of nice you get the weekend to observe/scout and kind of sad you can't hunt the weekend. Any idea why they do that? Open the 15th every year?
