Poll on how many +125" you killed (estimated green gross)

Unread postby Edcyclopedia » Thu Jan 01, 2015 2:04 am

With 4,240 Beasts on our team (as of 12/31/2104 8:30AM), I wonder what type of +125" (yield) each Beast has had.
Dan / Carol, is there is a way you could post how many active members are on the site per month on average for the past 6-months or something like that?
(Just to get an idea of "the active" members verses the 4,240).

I think this could gives us beginners and Intermediates some hope - "that there is not a deer behind every tree"...

This can be anonymous by just using the pole or add to the conversation...
A few Questions  I would be interested in (you could cut-n-paste and place answer besides question if it makes it easier)?:

  1. 1. Ratio of sightings per kill =
    2. Average seen / yr.=
    3. Number of deer killed within 30-miles (or 1-hour) of your home =
    4. Number of deer killed traveling more than 200-miles (or say +3-4hours) =
    5. Hill country kills =
    6. Farm country kills =
    7. Swamp / Marsh kills =
    8. Around crops =
    9. Over food plots =
    10. Over bait =
    11. Public =
    12. Private =
    13. How many years have you been hunting for deer =
    14. How many years have you been hunting for 125" (or bigger) =
    15. Average hours per year hunting & scouting combined (do not add traveling time, only woods time) =
    16. If you care to share what did you select on the poll =

Have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year To ALL!!!

Not to mention, a great 2015 hunting season as well!

I'll start as a poor example ;) LOL
1. Ratio of sightings per kill = 0
2. Average seen / yr.= 1 if I'm lucky!
3. Number of deer killed within 30-miles (or 1-hour) of your home = 0
4. Number of deer killed traveling more than 200-miles (or say +3-4hours) = 0
5. Hill country kills = 0
6. Farm country kills = 0
7. Swamp / Marsh kills = 0
8. Around crops = 0 (NH isn't a crop state)
9. Over food plots = 0 (do not own private or have people that perform any type of QDMA)
10. Over bait = 0 (mostly illegal; w/o land owner permission & none on public allowed))
11. Public = 0
12. Private =0
13. How many years have you been hunting for deer = 31
14. How many years have you been hunting for 125" (or bigger) = 6 ("always" in theory - dreaming of course, but exclusively or in reality since 2008)
15. Average hours per year hunting & scouting combined (do not add traveling time, only woods time) = 150-200
16. If you care to share what did you select on the poll = ZERO

Really, I just have about 4... They are only "P&Y" if you put them in the book. And after the 1st 4 or so I stopped entering them.

Green gross wouldn't make the book anyways...
All estimated deer are fine for this poll/questions

FYI - I EDited the thread for +125" estimated gross green score - in other words "for the DIY scorer"

My answers mixes in does since that is basically all I see.

1. Ratio of sightings per kill = 0 (for the bucks you are talking about)
2. Average seen / yr.= maybe 4 does
3. Number of deer killed within 30-miles (or 1-hour) of your home = 1 doe
4. Number of deer killed traveling more than 200-miles (or say +3-4hours) = 2 (1 doe and 1 buck that was not recovered before other animals found him).
5. Hill country kills = 0
6. Farm country kills = 2
7. Swamp / Marsh kills = 1
8. Over crops = 0
9. Over food plots = 0
10. Over bait = 0
11. Public = 0
12. Private = 1
13. How many years have you been hunting = 3 (2 really hampeder by access method)
14. How many years have you been hunting for P&Y (or bigger) = 0
15. Average hours per year hunting & scouting combined (do not add traveling time, only woods time) = did not count
16. If you care to share what did you select on the poll = 0

I am not at the point where I want to start limiting myself to P&Y class bucks. With that being said the last few years I haven't put the time in like I used to and man can I see it.This year was a bad year just for deer sightings let alone seeing any decent bucks.I usually see a bucks that are 100 inch or bigger every year. The last 2 years I have seen 0 that are that size or bigger. Now I know they are there because I have trail cam pics and also have others hunting the farm that have seen them. This year I am working to change that.I have already scouted more this year post season than I have in the past 2 or 3 years and plan to do as much as I can till the snow is to deep, then I will wait for spring. One other thing is I am not aggressive but I plan to change that also. With that being said heres my meek results!!lLOL

0 for me... I have seen 3 deer in my life that were over 125". None were while hunting. The largest bucks seem to top out around 120" around here. I see 1 or 2 a year over 100". I have been hunting about 29 yrs.. I have killed around 65 deer. Around 50 on public.

Ed.... are your questions for bucks 125+ only?
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
