They are heavy for a simple bow holder and that is my only complaint about them. Wish they could be made out of aluminum instead.

Yep. You don't have a lot to play with. Aluminum is aluminum. Your balancing size, strength, and weight. You can only cut out so much and still have a strong stand. At around 8lbs its very difficult to make any significant reductions without making the length of the stand shorter.
Oh, there are ways But nothing I can talk about till the patent is in.
You sprinkled pixie dust in the aluminum during casting didn't you?! And all this time I thought pixie dust was fake. At least you went ahead and patented the use of pixie dust, that's great thinking!
But seriously, I know that the bow manufacturers have made strides in new aluminum alloys and manufacturing processes recently. I'm sure with Dan being a machinist he has a great working knowledge of materials and production. I'm patiently waiting for the new sticks, stand, and bear dvd so I can order them all together.

Don't forget magnesium alloys as well.

Re: Dan's new stand and sticks
Like all others I am waiting.....................But unlike all others I am not that patient A good time to bring a product out because I am in the market for both stand and sticks. Might pick up a stand before season but I know having a second will be a plus. I cant picture Dan adding pixiedust to the casting (hope its scentless) but I'm glad hes not rushing it. We'll see....Remember, only in America a guy could do what Dan does...take his skill and knowledge and make some $$$. We've got it pretty good...
Yesterdays common sense is no longer common

My treestand design has a built in adjustable bow holder that will fit all bow types.

Re: Dan's new stand and sticks
Being a designer and builder of jigs and fixtures by trade, I've also dabbled in stand building as I'm sure others have. I have made a dozen of a particular design about 15 years back that I still use today. These are made of steel, mostly 12Ga. mild to be exact. These were meant to be used primarily on our private land spots. They weren't light, they came in around 15 lbs. but were extremely sturdy and easy to put up.
Just a suggestion...
The one thing I incorporated into these stands was an underside "center of mass" handle which really helps maneuver the stand at installation. ( I haven't seen any other manufacture do to this point) hint, hint.. but boy does it make a difference.
I don't know how close you are to your final design but if you're casting any kind of grid style platform I would think it would be pretty easy to design that in.
I had intentions way back of getting some cast out of aluminum and marketing these as well.
I even have a good friend who is a supervisor at the foundry where they cast the original Lone wolf's. At that time Lone wolf still had the patent on a cast aluminum platform so I had to wait. I will say my design is completely different than a lone wolf so I wasn't trying to just produce a spin off.
As time went by my kids grew up started getting into more stuff & family became more important. I lost interest in the venture.
I hope everything works out for you and your family on this one Dan, it will be quite an undertaking for sure!
Best of Luck,
Dale

I was gonna suggest this but you beat me to it. The only other thing that I'd like to see is a better design for attaching the stand and sticks. I haven't seen a lot of thought put into how these two systems flow together. Excited to see what you guys produce.

Re: Dan's new stand and sticks
I hope everything works out for Dan on this venture also! And like many others I am excited to see what he produces. I know nothing about stand making and little about machining from my own ventures. (Nothing like Dan and others on here I'm sure). But I have been down similar roads and have patented a product. (Not in this market) I have yet to make it a successful business though. I will say patents are tricky and expensive. This can be a long frustrating road but can pay off. Go through the right avenues and stay away from that invent help diy patent process stuff. iMO will just take your money and leave you spinning your wheels! Just my .2 Best of luck! Hope this setup makes it big. Looking forward to it!!

Re: Dan's new stand and sticks
40 years ago everyone made their own stands. Just weren't many manufactures out there. Baker had one but I couldn't afford one. My friend had one and he eventually sold it to me. Now days there are bunch of stand manufacturers and some real good ones. Lone wolf, XOP make some good stuff.
Lone wolf was the trend setter in high quality light weight mobile stands. I personally think it would tough to make it big in the tree stand business now days. Kind of like what is going on with trail cameras. Tough to break into that market now days. I think a lot of people buy stands and they sit in the garage and never get used. I know guys that buys trail cameras and never use them.
Tough to get those guys to buy the best.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Dan's new stand and sticks
I just bought a Guidos Web last year and I have two LW in the garage as well as a climber (which I haven't used in 6 years) and some pop up ground blinds. Told the wife I now have everything I need and don't need to buy anymore (after being asked countless times how many stands do you need). Now this comes out and I am going to have to sell something or my wife is going to be crazy. Either that or I'll have to convince her someone gave it me as a gift. Honestly I think this setup could be fantastic for a mobile hunter. By my calculations (with 18 in between sticks) you are going to get another 1.5-2 ft higher with 5 of Dan's sticks with the same weight as 4 of the LW sticks plus you have the double steps not to mention the stand is significantly lighter. This guy keeps on finding ways to just take my money.
