Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Scouted some new areas from 2pm til last light. Hoped to see a few deer while out and about but nothing.
Then like clockwork, while driving home after last light I saw 3 different herds of deer in 3 different fields within a few miles. Probably 20-30 deer in total. I'm about to give up on hunting public and go and ask these farmers to hunt their fields. I haven't killed a thing this year.
This does make me question what food source they are preferring right now and how long they will be digging around in harvested bean fields. There is a ton of standing corn around here too. Not sure where to focus.

North, were was this? Anyway in the public land I am scouting , there is very little and a whole bunch of cover. With no one bothering them there is no reason to for them to hide. I see where they just sit along a hedge grove next to the food and sit in the sun. Come October, with all the dudes chasing them , they will be hiding again. I would be elated to see 30 deer anywhere near my hunting spots.

Getting down to the wire. I’m gonna do a 2hr speed scout and make a game time decision. Just enough time for a hunt before family Christmas.

I’m out, in an extremely aggressive set. It’s -5deg air temp and dropping quick. Hoping to get a Christmas present in the form of 200lb and 100 inches, but I’m not gonna be picky if given the opportunity.

Got busted by a decent buck. Picked a bean pile of a tree, and got busted from lack of cover. Confident that would have been. Dead deer with some leaves or if I was up higher or something. Was a fun hunt. -16 when I got back to the truck.. I froze, but I saw a buck.

I am hunting in central MN. I haven't had any daylight encounters with deer on the public near any of the standing corn in the late season. Every deer I have seen since November has been feeding in a harvested bean field right before dark. However, there are no cut bean fields joining up to the public except in one spot.
There's plenty of tracks but I am thinking most of them are being made at night. Going to do another deep scouting trip after Christmas and try to locate some bedding locations.

Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Just got in from my last hunt of the season. Had a doe cone running straight at us, buddy had a x-bow, she stoped 20 yds out, I grunted and she was curious, I slowly went to my knees, buddie had a gyllyie (spelling) suit on, she had now turned to go back the way she came, I let out a fawn bleet, and she turned right around and was coming straight to us, buddie forgot to turn safety off, she the busted out. We continued to our spot, 1.5 miles in, big marsh. Was In a awesome spot, just nothing came thru. It was 6* going in, 20mph wind with higher gusts, and -3*when we got back to the car.
