I let the 7mm eat tonight. Shot a big bodied buck with a small 5 point rack. 180# dressed. He was following a doe and her fawn.

Man what a roller coaster this year has been. I learned my lesson last year knowing your season can go from horrible to the best ever in seconds. The story that goes along with today’s hunt is pretty cool. It involved some belly crawling and was a stressful but fun hunt I’ll write up a kill zone post tomorrow.

Scored him at 132” even.

Yeah no kidding!! When rut started ramping up and I was pushing to hunt more the wife mentioned that I “already shot a deer” (doe in September).

Day 9 Rifle. Coldest day so far, 18 degrees and WSW wind less than 5 mph. The woods is silent. Entry there was ice breaking with every step so I was loud. But I'm through the swamp and on the NE point of a ridge. There's been very little shooting all season. I plan to change that.
