This is a really good point Headgear. When I was a teenager, I would put on everything that I was planning to hunt in the day and still had a long walk to the stand. By the time I got to my tree I was soaking wet. For some reason it took years to figure this out and come up with a different plan
Now, I pack my outer layer in my stand at the truck. When I begin my walk to my stand I am freezing because I have very little on, but by the time I finish my long walk and setting my stand I actually need a few minutes to cool off before putting on my outer layers. This has been a game changer for me.
If I find that I am getting a little too warm on my walk in, I will stop for a minute or two and take a break. This has a couple of benefits: 1) it causes me to slow down and refocus and 2) it cools me down. Another thing I will do as I am trying to cool off is to take my hat off. This will cool me down faster than anything.
