hide from humans
how many people park in weird places and hide from cars while walking down the road to where you cut in or do other silly things to keep people from finding your spots? and what do you do when someone catches you hiding behind that tree?

Re: hide from humans
I will always wait to leave my truck when nobody is around or driving by. If I have to cross a road or bridge I will hide behind my truck and when the coast is clear I take off in a full sprint till I can hide again. I feel like a moron doing it but its just instinct at this point. Does not matter what I'm doing, if I'm on public land I will dive into cover at the sight of another human.

Re: hide from humans
Down at farm I park away from where I'm hunting. Most people that hunt at farm don't walk over 100 yards to their stand. I walk about 1/4 mile or more so they never clue into where I'm hunting.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Avoid detection at all cost, when that fails act as if you are lost.

Re: hide from humans
good stuff the one place I hunt gets a lot of bird watchers so come scouting season I'm dressed for the part. I also ride my mountain bike down trails and then hide my bike and scout. I've also had people drop me off before.

Re: hide from humans
I do whatever it takes to make sure I’m not seen by other hunters. I’m generally pretty paranoid that way. Most people are just WAY to nosey for their own good so I do my best to give them as little info as possible. If those people put as much effort into their own hunts as they do others they could be real good hunters.

Re: hide from humans
Ha funny. 6'4, 300lbs doesn't really give me much opportunity to hide. Think my best bet is to shoot a bear, make a full body coat and walk on all fours.
I hunt lower hunter density stuff (at least up til this point). If somebody does find me, I just try to look like some mean lost guy who doesn't speak english. 4 years of spanish does pay off sometimes
Really the key is just look like you don't know what you are doing, but also give the signal you don't want to talk to anybody. I naturally look confused and lost so I got the first part nailed

Re: hide from humans
I avoid detection at all costs as well.
I have not been detected by anyone yet.
I have gave it some thought though.
I have decided that if I am ever caught hiding behind a tree that I am immediately going to drop my pants and squat in hopes that they leave and never come back.

Re: hide from humans
Carry a fishing pole and when u see another hunter ask if they caught anything... In seriousness if it's a spot I'm worried about being seen, I'm the first one in, last one out. And the last thing u ever want is for someone see u dragging or loading up a deer. That is if u wanna keep the spot to yourself
Life is hard; It’s even harder if you are stupid.

Re: hide from humans
I go to some EXTREMES when it comes to this
Especially if I am hunting somewhere someone knows my truck
I have parked my truck at one spot and had a (trusted) buddy pick me up, only to drop me off a couple miles away.
I was hunting out of state and had a guy stop look at me on my way out from a sit. He turned around came back and waited for me to come to the road. My truck was only 300 yds away from this point he was talking to me.... When he asked me if I seen anything, I told him I was trying to find a particular road name. He said " S*** far son, you are three miles from there" Offered me a ride there I thanked him and told him I sent my gps coordinates to a friend that was on his way to pick me up.

And if that fails don't tell the truth.
Hunter I ran into: "See anything?"
Me: "Nope"
hunter I ran into: "Is that's blood on your pants?"
Me:"Yup, cut my thumb fooling around with my knife."
I go sit on my tailgate and wait for him to leave so I can get the cart.
