Hunting farm country in Ontario - we dont have much Sorghum around here and infact ive never seen it before this year, turns out I have one farm with Sorghum planted on it...
I plan on doing some observation sits and let the deer tell me how to hunt them before I make a move, but wondering if theres any advice you guys can give me or successful hunts hunting a farm with a sorghum crop? Any bit of info would help...is it most attractive to deer when its green? Is it good late season even after its been harvested, etc.. thx in advance fellas!

From what I have seen it tends to be a late season food source. Sorry that is all I know

A farm I hunt rotates between alfalfa and corn. One year they had some trouble with the corn planting and ended up throwing sorghum in. The alfalfa years are always the best corn is ok, better for turkeys. The year with sorghum was terrible. The deer didn't seem to care for it at all.

There's a farm near where I hunt that has hundreds of acres of it. Never seen that much around here or anywhere east of kansas. What's with the economics of that? Low corn and bean prices? Subsidies out of whack?

There is a field of sorghum adjacent to our property and I've noticed that the deer like to bed in it, particularly the does.

I’ve seen it a few times but don’t have much experience hunting or scouting near it. There’s one sorghum field near Josh’s public and I’ve yet to shine a deer out there, but I haven’t been seeing that many in that area this year. So who knows.
I can see how they’d like to bed in it.

The farmer I bought my land from always planted sorghum with Sudan grass and said the deer loved it and they were always in it. I asked him why that instead of corn...he said more tonage . That’s all I know
