I don't start ice fishing until the archery season is over.

As much as I like ice fishing lately the last few years I have been splitting the time more with post-season scouting for deer. Seems like there is never enough time for everything.

I've heard of a few guys poking out on some smaller lakes. I don't know if anyone has found any good ice yet though.

I was ten feet off my peir this past weekend - 2 inches of scary ice. The lake was 90% skimmed over last night and 100% this morning. Should be perfect for a few tip ups in front on Saturday morning - give me at least 3.5-4 inches and I'll do it... with a life jacket on and possible teathered to a tree, lol.

Seriously, I'm ice fishing Saturday morning, but I have a good friend asking me to fish the Pewaukee Lake Sucker tournament on Saturday, too... We'll have to break ice to get out there and it will be snowing on us... For the love of the game, right?

I went out spearing on Sun.
We had a good 4 inches but the water was a little too milky to see well. Didn't see a fish but felt good to get out.
Boy it sure is easy to punch through now compared to Feb's 30".

we had tip ups out in tomahawk the closing sunday of deer season, the 28th I believe, a solid 2inches of ice was all we needed to ice a couple walleyes and miss a few more. Blaming it on the LARGE shiners we had to use because the bait shop was out of mediums...my roommate was fishing a slough of the WI river on 3" of ice last wednesday hammered the gills but nothing big.

Had tip-ups out all day from sun up to down on lower Phantom out my back door. . . 4" 10 yards out, 2.5" 40 yards out, and 1.5" 100 yards out (Got that measurement from the two dudes crazier than me, lol).

Not a flag till sun down, and that was just the shiner being pissed off.
