I had some time before work the other morning....
First fish I've caught since moving to SD.

Weighed 6 lbs, never measured the fish but the net is 21" long.

Now that's a great way to start a work day! 6lb first fish in a new area is awesome. Whack & stack em!

Seas finally cooperated somewhat.

Caught and released about 20 of these endangered things

Dang Buckshot that's a Purdy fish!! Believe it would be a endangered species in my family's ice box! Looks like a real drag puller bet your kiddo had a blast

For myself after some easy Pickens catfish on Tuesday. I tried again Weds and not so easy lol. Wind laid down and what was a 45 min limit turned into a 5 hour 18. Still fun. Today I had warm sunny temps with a very mild wind. Conditions were prime for some midday lillypad poppin crappie. Droppin in the pads is prob my fav fishing. What a whack!

Those fish are delish too but the man says no. I think we get 2 weekends this year and I'm sure we will have a hurricane when they fall.

Keep catching those butterballs

Took the kickboat out midday for some post spawn whackin. Set up on a good squeeze and were catching em leaving the shallows for deeper water. Not my fav fishing in the world but still pretty dang fun!

One last hoorah. Seems the shallow water spawn for my beloved crappie is bout wrapped up. Managed to catch a few stragglers on my way home from work this morning. But I believe it will be my last trip of the year. Off to the next one! Channel cats are bout to start popping and noodling is about to crank up. I enjoy any kind of fishing but shallow water crappie is by far my fav and hate to see another season come to a end. Image

Dang sure can't complain, you had an incredible crappie season! Well done.
What would be your best guess on cleaned pounds for the season?

I really don't have a clue chief! Not a great year but not a bad one eithier. All this rain just jacked everything up. Not only days afforded to fish but it's much better during the spawn to catch them while lake is dropping vs rising. All in all can't complain had a great time, filled my freezer with some tender videls and made some memories. To me that's what it's all about.

I had another good Saturday evening once the east winds slowed down. Caught my limit of Saginaw bay walleye for the second Saturday in a row.

Took my little lady out on Friday after work for some Daddy daughter time. She’s 4. We fished off the dock on a local lake and stayed in my ice castle. We drank juice boxes, roasted hot dogs over the fire, and watched some Despicable Me right before bed :D I bet Elli said “This is fun!” Or “I love camping!” ten times while we were there. She had a blast and I think I had more fun than she did.

We caught one 14” walleye, 3 bullheads, and had a couple misses. Can’t wait to do it again.

I c you know your crappie! We have a healthy population of whites as well they just spawn a bit deeper on my home lake. That long rod and shallow spawners is what trips my trigger I guess. I have no clue about bluegill. We have sun perch and various other species of perch. But there very small believe the biggest I have ever caught was about the size of my hand. There not even a game fish here. Most guys use em for trotline bait.

Joe68 heck of a catch!

LD nice work Bud! For some reason it brought back memories of my lil ones first fishing trip last year. Prob cause they look to be close in age. I wanted her first experience to be action packed. Worked my tail off baiting a whole for catfish in a kid friendly environment. Had em piled up like maggots I mean the cork never even touched the water. After her second fish she became more interested in throwing rocks lol.

That's fun stuff LD. Anytime they can catch anything is a great day. Fun to see them haul in a "whopper."
