I couldn’t make up my mind if I wanted to catfish or crappie fish this morning. So I elected to do Both and try for a double dip. I just love a full moon during the spawn.

When you go fishing is there ever a moment in time when you aren’t reeling one in? Criminy cripes guy ;) , you catch em every time!

Short answer. No! In February I do always struggle a lot. All the cold fronts and plus I’m jumping the gun a bit and just wanna go. I can assure anyone I have no special talent. Mainly have just put enough time in on the same lake to have a pretty good idea of what they are gonna do each day. I would be embarrassed if someone added up all the hours I’ve been on this lake in my life.

Bonus fish on musky gear. 21” LM.

Quite the fighter and had me fooled for a bit. Thought I had a smaller musky or northern on.

Cold front came with gusto yesterday so I stayed home and got some things around the house done. Was still 49 out when I woke up at 6:30 so I went back to bed. Hit water around 10 and it was still a bit nippy at 57 with 15 mph winds. I know it doesn’t sound to frosty but I wade fish in shorts and a hoodie. When your back gets wet between the shoulder blades and the wind hits ya, u get cold quick.

Picked me a small cove to get me out of today’s forecasted wind. Bite was slow early. Fished for 2 hours without a bite. But when that sun got high the action started to heat up. Supposed to be nice tomorrow......

Took my last crappie trip of the Spring. The shallow bite is winding down and will be nonexistent in the next week. Was fun while it lasted.

Crawfish are finally starting to run good, I’m hoping I can keep catching good at least until July.

Boogieman1 wrote:Well made a group outing today. Took my wife, daughter, and neighborhood kid fishing. After stops for donuts, sun screen, deep-woods off, and drinks we made to the water around 10.

Stats for the day.

25 break offs
5 knots/tangles
1 hook in my thumb
1 lost flip flop
Etc....

But was all worth it. Was actually the kid down streets first fish. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves so that’s all that matters. Fished for about 2 hours. Between the 2 of em I believe they caught 27. Was catch and release today cause I forgot the basket.

After working 14 hr days for the past 7 days I finally got a lil me time. Grabbed my inner tube and headed for deeper water along a channel drop. I caught a lil of everything while targeting crappie. Have had a few folks hound me for fish recently so these will work perfect. Was a very fun trip can’t wait to do it again!

On the board for the season with one around the 30# mark. ALL bank holes were still full of muck so it’s still early surprisingly. This one was laid up under a portion of an old trestle bridge with a dink.
