There have been a lot of questions on topos and what they will do/not do, for the scouting part of hunting. So I though I'd start this thread on how to read topographical maps. Some guys might find this elementary but the new guys might find it informative so the seasoned topo readers bear with and feel free to add.

I'd love to have an example from a MAP Guru like Autumn Ninja or Dan (or many others) taking this to the next level as a 1, 2, 3 Guide when specifically looking for Mature Buck bedding and wind/stand ambush points?
Even to a level as to what Doe's would bed in also, helping select rut spots and such...
I know there would be a massive assumption for food sources and other variables but that could be semi-figured out based on an aerial showing different edges of vegetation/forest etc...

The narration and screen examples are a slam dunk!!!
Dan, is this something to look for in your next DVD?

I agree Ed, I do not have the skills to put together a presentation anywhere near this quality, in a short period of time. So the obvious was to filch this one, for the benefit of the members.

I like this post for multiple reasons but Autumn Ninja posted some good exapmles of maps in this post. Maybe can pick up some pointers? I did.

Yes a VERY good post. (I did contribute my sarcastic rants to add spice to it this post )
I printed his maps and put them into my binder for future reference.

I think the aspect of video w/narration would be a real winner!
