Here you go
Schubox1265 wrote:PUBLICbowhunter wrote:Also what would the codes be for a NORTH, EAST AND WEST slope. It would be nice to switch through the slope shades according to winds for a particular day. Thanks a lot !!!!!
The aspect ('a' code) is based on a 360 degree circle. 0 is north, 90 is east, 180 is south, and 270 is west.
When using the 'a' code, always list clockwise.
i.e. 'a0-180' will shade the east slopes, and 'a180-0' will shade the west slopes.
'a270-0' would shade the NW slopes, but 'a0-270' would shade everything from north all around to west
Once again, sign in, name and save your maps, name and save your layers.
The pencil icon next to your layer name allows you to edit them.
I hope this helps, and I apologize for being out of the loop as of late

Ok, I am having troubles with getting shading to show....
My peak elevation is 600f and my bottom elevation is 500f. So, my code lists as followr.....?
e560f-540f FF0000-0000FF
I have tried google chrome, internet explorer, and firefox. Still no shading. I have also tried the code that narrows down slopes facing certain directions. our predominant wind is out of the southeast for october, so I used this code
a270-0e560f-540f 004C99
What am I doing wrong?

Try putting the lower elevation first and the higher elevation second, that may fix it.

Just found another use for the shading. There is a large reservoir near me with a lot of public land on its edges. This reservoir's water level has changed by 30+ feet in the last 6 months. I just went on CalTopo and put in the current lake level and boom. Everything that's under water was shaded.

The maps are saved automatically. There is not a 'Save' button to click.
You will see a [glow=red]RED[/glow] warning statement in the upper left that the map has not been saved in the event of some auto-saving problem.
Clicking on your user name will bring up the list of your saved maps.
Hope this helps.

Re: Cyber Scouting and Mapping to the next level - CalTopo
Hey guys, Just discovered Caltopo and am wanting to learn how to use it fully. I'm looking around the public land north of Lake Nimrod in Plainview Arkansas. The normal lake level is 342 but this season we've had lots of water to deal with. The lake level is at 355 right now and may hit 360 soon. Is there a way to change the water level of the lake on Caltopo to show the newly inundated areas?
If it can be done and someone wants to post a pic that's fine with me.
Thanks
