trimble outdoors

Unread postby yungbuck » Wed Jun 14, 2017 4:07 pm

trimble outdoors was a great app for phones and online scouting and they are removing all maps and content by June 30th
if you have intel on their site make sure you back up your maps and download the gpx file for your dashboard before they close entirely

all i can speak to is the steps ive taken

login- enter email so they email you a zip file of maps (they send email with file) then download it
mine is saying 1-2 hr download. once it completes ill work on it and share what I find

i would imagine there are a ton of guys on here who know how to do it already but ive never worked with gpx files. my understanding is GPX is pretty compatible for mapping and GPS software (base camp) so we should be able to drag it onto the new files folder on our garmins. i am hoping to drop it in Google earth as well

Definitely a bummer.

I'm going to scout a piece today that I'll be trying the GAIA GPS app out for. That's another option post-Trimble pulling their app.

backed up my trimble maps today pretty easy

login to the site and they send you a zip file of all the maps on your trimble dashboard to your email ( no longer can use see your maps on their site any more which is a bummer because it was easy to switch from satellite and topo but there are tons of other mapping options out there)

a link is sent to your email
download the zip file from that link (took my computer a few hours )
open the zip file and extract all
save to your hunting files
then import to basecamp or google earth

it was pretty simple and I am grateful to have all my old maps.
