Newbie Beast's First Buck Bed
In June I found my first buck bed after immersing myself in all the knowledge on here, Dan's podcast appearances, and the YouTube episodes I've watched. I purchased the Hill Country DVD and I am absorbing as much as I can.
I found this bed in June on a ridge overlooking doe bedding area. It is near an overgrown fence line and in a very thick area. I would never have looked here without the great insights available here. It was worn to the bare dirt, so I threw up a camera and have seen all of the bucks in the area bed in it. Following Dan's advice, I noticed the bucks setting up in various spots around the main bed. I reviewed the pics while checking the historical weather info for the dates of the pics with Weather Underground. The wind direction for each day correlated with their position.
Thanks to all the contributors, as well as Dan for making the undecipherable make sense.

Re: Newbie Beast's First Buck Bed
On that fence line there is probably a bench or log road the herd follows. Should be able to see where the buck drops down from his bed and follows herd trail from below. Atleast that's how most of my properties set up. But u r deff on the right track. The most important information a hunter can have is where is the buck bedded. Without that u r asking for a whole lot, but with that u can pretty much determine everything else
Life is hard; It’s even harder if you are stupid.

That's right.
There are three trails leading into and out of the bedding there. The camera is facing NE and we have prevailing W/ SW winds. In this pic we had an unusual NW wind and if you look in the right-hand side of the bare bed there is a 3 1/2 yo ten pointer bedded.

Beautiful buck man.
No Shortcuts. No Excuses. No Regrets.
Everybody's selling dreams. I'm too cheap to buy one.

Re: Newbie Beast's First Buck Bed
Closed the deal on this buck found from scouting this bed. Cannot explain how cool it was to see the Beast Mode culminate in success!
Thanks to Dan and all contributors!!!
