using Samsung phone for GPS?

Unread postby ihookem » Mon Nov 06, 2017 1:29 pm

My BIL has an APP called gaia GPS. He has an iPhone and can use his I phone as a GPS. It is 20 bucks for the App. Does anyone have this APP or something similar? I have an old GPS and the batteries go dead in a few hrs so I need a new GPS or find a way to get it on my Samsung J3. Please help, i"m really new to this.

I have that app and like it, plan to keep using it. I can share/email waypoints to my hunting buddies too, which is nice.

Onx maps also has a GPS app for smartphones that is very popular, my buddy has it and we swap waypoints back and forth frequently.

I use OnXmaps for anything hunting related. Sometimes it easier and faster to use my GPS. They just came out with an import export feature so you can take waypoints from your GPS and put them on OnXmaps and vice versa

Jackson, so it's worth the 20 bucks? Is it as fast as the GPS? Is the image quality good and accurate?

My samsung used to work EXCELLENT for gps purposes. The new LG i have does not...

OnX is amazing, be sure to check out their site make sure your area has the private parcel info you would want. I personally use Back Country Navigator and love it!

OnX Hunt app for me. Totally worth it.

GPS works nearly flawlessly on my Galaxy s7.

I use Back Country Navigator Pro. This app lets you download unlimited satellite imagery at home, then turn you data off in the woods and only uses the GPS signal. So if you have poor signal you can still count on the mapping to work. It is a one time fee of $15. I used this on my tablet which did not have data and it worked awesome.

I've been using the GPS Waypoints Navigator on my Galaxy S5, it's free and has worked pretty good for my needs.

I have the IPhone 7 with the OnX maps and a Garmin 62S. I use the Garmin to navigate and the cellphone for arial photos. IME the Garmin is more accurate for navigation.
